Finding my Truth

I have always been a personality profiling junkie. I love learning about what makes people tick, and how to understand myself and others better. But every system I have ever learned about before Energy Profiling has a major flaw - none of them can uncover a person's inherent nature. I'm talking about the classic nature/vs. nurture debate. Which parts of a person's personality and tendencies are their true nature, what they were born to be, and which are learned responses? Now, I'm not talking about eternal potential, because I believe that all of us can be partakeers of the divine nature through our Savior's power to change and heal us. But I also believe that we each have an inborn nature, a kind of energy that, when we are moving through life in harmony with it, we feel more alive, more true to ourselves, and more able to grow to our greatest potential and feel more joyful.

When I found Carol Tuttle's Energy Profiling course, it was like discovering a part of myself that I didn't even know was there, but that was deeper than my actions or preferences. I learned why I think the way I do, why I naturally want to move through life the way I do, and why it is ok to be that way! I learned that each energy type has its own gifts and that we are not serving the world by trying to play another's part. Learning about others' energy types also helps me to relate with them in the way they can understand and not to be baffled or offended by the way they think and act differently than I do.

Now I know that I function best when I am able to move at a relaxed pace, and why I have suffered from trying to push myself to get things done quickly. I also understand why the people in my life who live with a movement of pushing forward act the way they do, and how valuable it can be to have them around when I need help to get going. But I know it is still ok for me to be myself and I don't have to feel guilty for having a natural movement of steady continuous flow.

Because of energy profiling, I know that my nature (type 2) is soft, subtle, and gentle. I can respect those in my life whose energy is bold or dynamic, without feeling I have to be that way myself. I can appreciate those whose energy is light and fun, without feeling like I have to put on a 'life of the party' persona to compete for attention. I can attract people to me by simply being myself and being comfortable in my own skin.

The most wonderful part of energy profiling is being able to understand my spouse and children better. I know better how to teach and love my family members when I understand their natural way of thinking and moving through life. Instead of expecting them to act and think the same way I would, I can meet them where they are.

It's such a gift to be more at peace with myself and with the people in my life. That's why I started this blog, to share this gift with others.

  1. I want to learn more about this, Alysia! I don't have time to write a longer response just now (my break is over), but wanted to at least leave a quick note. Thanks for sharing this!
